6.0 LITER LS1 IN MY 95Z
Hi guys, I have a few questions that I am hoping someone can help me with. I have came up on a killer deal on a 6liter ls1 out of a 01 2ton truck. I want to put it in my 95z28 can anyone help me out here with what I will need for the install and what about my tranny will I ba able to make it work?? Do these engines have capability to make power, like 450-500rwhp N/A? I dont know much about them, so if anyone can help me it would be much appreciated. A list of mods for this engine would also be appreciated.
Thanks alot
Scott

Eeeeeek no! Sell the engine fast! I'll even help taking it off your hands. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Did you get the full harness & computer?
The 6.0 is used for many of the big buildup LS1s, because of the iron block. Stock untouched, you'd be better with a regular LS1 due to the weight (IMO). They can make some big HP #'s though. The truck intake won't be close to fitting underhood. Might consider an LS6 intake to help breathing there. I'm not sure what your budget is, but an intake & cam swap would make a big difference. If you are looking for bang for the buck, this ain't the way to go. Lt1's can be built up to make this kinda power really easy. If you want different, aren't afraid of some labor, and looking to create the basis for a big hp buildup, it could work.
There are modifications required to make an older M6 to fit the GenIII motors. Many LS1 guys want to swap to that tranny because it is better made than the current T56 trannies, and I remember hearing there were issues. You might call a clutch company to get some scoop. I believe the bolt patterns are the same, just that the clutch/flywheel dimensions are different.
Hope that helps, just some of my thoughts on the matter.

Re: 6.0 LITER LS1 IN MY 95Z
Thanks for the reply Brian. I have heard that the Heads on these motors Can make good power, is this true? How much would a cam swap, intake and heads run me? How much power would I be looking at? I am trying to get about the same power out of N/A car that I am out of my car in the sig.
Keep them coming guys!
Thanks

No, you heard wrong, LS1 motors can't make power on just heads/cam <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Egads yes they respond. Do some searching through this forum for builds & their results. You'll probably find that the best heads/cam results will be had when headers are thrown in the mix. LS6 intake & custom tuning add even more.

You will need a 98+ tranny, the newer gen cars have a different throwout bearing setup and the tranny might even have a different spline count.
I have a 6.0 liter based 422ci stroker in my car and I have made 450rwhp/502rwtq unlocked on pump gas so far, locked or with an M6 I am thinking 475rwhp.
