Reference materials for swap?
Here's my plan:
LS-1 & 6 speed into 1989 5 speed 2.4l Nissan 240sx.
Pro: Light, RWD, aerodynamic.
Con: Engine bay may be small.
Now, I'm not here to debate the pros and cons of this swap, I'm going to do it. Granted, I don't plan on starting until the fall of 2003, but I will be doing it. What I'd like to hear from you is if you have discovered any reference books that might help with this swap. In addition, and my first question: what will I have to strip from the existing car (engine, ecu etc...) to install the LS1, and, if I were to buy a complete setup LS-1 and tranny, what would I need to be able to turn the key and make it run.
I know I'm going to have to custom build an exhaust, but what I'm worried about more than anything are the electrics/electronics of the LS-1. How do I make this stuff work?
Thanks in advance, and I'm really looking forward to seeing your posts about reference books...
Peace,
Mark
GM service manual from the donor. (Lets you figure out what each and every wire is and helps with troubleshooting later.)
Service manual for the donor car.
"How to Understand, Service and Modify Corvette Fuel Inection & Electronic Engine Management" by Charles Probst. This book explains in great detail how the computer controls of the engine work.
Can you maybe give me a part number, or the number of a dealership that knows what they're talking about, that might be able to mail order the manual to me?
Thanks in advance...
