I have done a search on this thread and came back with a little more info then I had before. One question I have yet to get answered is if a 4l60e out of a 94 Z-28 with work with this engine or will it have to be swapped out. Also, the wiring on the lt1, will it work or not. And lastly, do I need a different computer, or just a reflash? I have these available thru where I work for a great price. They are all zero mileage takouts. never really taken out cuz they were never installed, or run. I have the ability to get the parts because of my working at a late model salvage yard. This is a swap I really want to do, both for being unique, and the ability to increase the HP as I feel the need in the future. I will put a cam and intake on this engine, probably the ls6 intake and various other things before i drop it in. such as headers. Anyinput would be great. I know it can be done, but I just need a little guidence on the how part of it. Thanks in advance <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

You can splice the LS1 harness into the existing LT1 body harness. Also, the PCM for an LT1 and LS1 are not the same. You need the LS1 PCM.

the tranny will not work from your car, you must use a 4.8 5.3 6.0 or 5.7 gen 3 v8 tranny to bolt up but 6L's came with 4L80e trannies or 4l65s...

GM sells a flywheel and a special spacer to go on the end of the crank so you can mount an early 4L60e, th400, or th350 to an ls1. The part # for the flywheel is 12551367. The part # for the spacer and special bolts to install it is 12563532 and 12563533.

Thank you for the part numbers on the tranny stuff. That will help alot since I have already gone thru my tranny pretty well. Should I splice the harness into the LT1 harness, or should I be able to pull the entire harness with the LT1 out and use the new harness. Is that going to cause compatibility problems with my internal devices...like the speedo. I can get the computer, I have a harness out of a Silverado with a 6.0 or I can get a firebird ls1 harness. The motor is already in my possesion and being torn down so as to install the cam and have the block decked to fit the LS6 intake I have for it. Am I missing anything that anyone can think of, besides the spacer kit for my trans that I will go get this weekend.

dream1q, this might help you :
installing LS1 motor in 94 LT1 camaro :
1- I dont carry custom harnesses. Check my Links page for companies
that do.
2- Any 93-02 f-body radiator will fit.
3- Any 93-02 dual fans will work.
4- The ABS, fuel pump and lines all work. You will have to modify the
A/C
lines.

I just finished putting an LS1 (1998) into a 1994 Z28 chassis. I had a donor car at my disposal, so I took the time to completly swap all three wiring harnesses (engine, front chassis, rear chassis), dash and gauge cluster. I looked into some splicing, but perferred to have a matched set so that engine matched all controls. Only had a few problems (connection to crank sensor), otherwise it started right up.
I'm sure someone said so earlier in this post, but you will need a new PCM to match the engine harness.
Feel free to email if I can be of help.

LS1 sending units from a 98 F body will work with the LT1 gauges with a little wiring modification, your gonna need a F body harness though as the Vette harness is just too different.
Headers for any LS1 F body will fit.
You'll have to fab something there.
Actually the 93 cars had a kind of bastard 700R4 that won't work with the LS1 PCM. Your better off getting a LS1 4L60E, otherwise you will need a stand alone computer just to run the tranny.

ok pulling up another old thread.
I see that the 4l60 is the same as the 700R4 in the 93.
and that wont work at all? I dont think there is any eletronics that control the tranny? i could be wrong. so couldent i just program the PCM so it will think that the tranny is working on its own???
