can I use the LS1 dash harness??
can I use the LS1 dash harness?? I am reaearching the install of an LS1/4L60E into my 1973 camaro and have a few questions.
What are the pros and cons of using the LS1 donor cars dash harness?I am modifying my entire dash and will be changing gauges so it makes sense to just use the donor cars gauges.Wouldn't this eliminate some problems of splicing,modifying my stock harness as well as make it easier to connect the bulk head?
I will likely be using an fbody engine combo and wouldn't mind blending the gauge cluster in,and maybe even the ac,wiper,radio controls and whatever else can be had.
If anyone has info on this I could use the help.

Re: can I use the LS1 dash harness?? I don't see it as making anything easier, but if you are wanting the uniqueness of adding all of the late model stuff to your early Camaro, it can be done. You'll need to know about the airbags, body control module, etc. as well as the radio stuff which has wiring back to the Bose or Monsoon amp mounted in the back of the car.
The inside harness is big, bulky, and complex, so if you do go that route, by all means get the FSM (factory service manual) from Helm for the donor car. Don't get a cheapie Haynes or Chilton manual or whatever else they sell as a service manual, it won't do the job for what you are talking about doing.
