Default Need LS1 to look at

Does someone in, or around, NE Ohio have their LS1 out of the car without a tranny on it?

I'm figuring out what I need for a hybrid install and want to get some good measurements before I actually go and start spending money.

I'm especially interested in the back of the motor because I'm trying to design an adapter to my tranny/clutch combination.

If someone's willing to make some measurements for me that would be great!

Email me and let me know either way.

What specific measurements are you after?

I have a CAD file of the bolt pattern for an LS1 if you would like. It is how I made my adapter plate. It is almost identical to the SBC except for the two bolts in the pan and one missing. I took the file to a CNC shop and had them drill all the holes. You will still need the bolt pattern for your trans. If is GM the chevy powerbook will have it.

LS1Swap: That would be great if you could send me that. I've found an adapter to bolt the bellhousing to a small block. Your drawings would give the location for the pan bolts, which I'll have to add.

I'm putting it into an Audi Quattro.

Kennedy Engineering makes an adapter for a small block, but they don't want to make one for the LS1 (not enough demand, yada, yada...) Their adapter plate will get me bolted together at the bellhousing. Now I need to figure out what to do for flywheel/clutch adaptation.

John:
The main measurement that I really need is the distance from the bellhousing flange to the end of the crank. (how far behind the end of the block does the flywheel bolt on)

The other specific measurement can probably wait until I get my engine, but they are:
- Crank/flywheel bolt circle (I believe this is 3.112).
- Flywheel bolt size (are they still 7/16)
- Crank flange OD
- Flywheel pilot OD and step height

Yes they will give you the location for the bolts in the pan. I would be more than happy to e-mail you my CAD files. Would you like them in DWG or DFX. One question though do you plan on having them drill all the holes or just add the extra two??? Because unless all the hole are being drilled all at once it would be hard to reposition the plate in the CNC machine. One more option is if you have all the rest of the holes in the adapter plate is to thread in two cone pointed set screws backwards into the block. Slide the adapter plate up to the se screws and use the to put center punch marks on the plate
The crank flange protrudes .25" past the blocks mounting surface for the trans. I hesitate to give you the flywheel flange OD for the biggest mic I have is 2". It measure 2-3/64 with my caliper, but I don't trust it to high precision. I can't get the pilot bearing OD while it is on my engine stand. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

DWG will work!

Thanks a lot for your help!

I'm going to try to get them to drill all the holes for me. If they don't, you've got a good idea with the 'threaded center punch' approach.
