Need LS1 to look at
I'm figuring out what I need for a hybrid install and want to get some good measurements before I actually go and start spending money.
I'm especially interested in the back of the motor because I'm trying to design an adapter to my tranny/clutch combination.
If someone's willing to make some measurements for me that would be great!
Email me and let me know either way.
I'm putting it into an Audi Quattro.
Kennedy Engineering makes an adapter for a small block, but they don't want to make one for the LS1 (not enough demand, yada, yada...) Their adapter plate will get me bolted together at the bellhousing. Now I need to figure out what to do for flywheel/clutch adaptation.
John:
The main measurement that I really need is the distance from the bellhousing flange to the end of the crank. (how far behind the end of the block does the flywheel bolt on)
The other specific measurement can probably wait until I get my engine, but they are:
- Crank/flywheel bolt circle (I believe this is 3.112).
- Flywheel bolt size (are they still 7/16)
- Crank flange OD
- Flywheel pilot OD and step height
The crank flange protrudes .25" past the blocks mounting surface for the trans. I hesitate to give you the flywheel flange OD for the biggest mic I have is 2". It measure 2-3/64 with my caliper, but I don't trust it to high precision. I can't get the pilot bearing OD while it is on my engine stand. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
Thanks a lot for your help!
I'm going to try to get them to drill all the holes for me. If they don't, you've got a good idea with the 'threaded center punch' approach.
