Default Backup light ???

I am using the painless LS1 wiring harness so far so good. Where do I get a signal to light the back up lights?
Does anyone make a 12 X 1.5 mm to 1/8" pipe adapter?
Thanks,
TOM

John,
I have a 70 camaro with a 98 LS1 & T56.
I am in the final stages of motor wiring and noticed there was no way to get the back-up signal. Also where can I get a 12 x 1.5 to 1/8" pipe adapter? This is for the temp sender in the right head. I don't want to drill and tap the head unless I have to.
Thanks,
Tom

If you look at the base of your steering column, there should be a switch which is activated when the whole column turns when it either goes into gear as an automatic or reverse as a stick. It should have a green wire and either a white or black wire running to it. I just spliced my wires from the tranny into these and they work like a champ!

John, where exactly on the T-56 is the connector for the reverse lights located? Is it on the passenger side? Or is it one of the connectors on the drivers side?

It is on the passenger side. I have a faint memory of brown and orange for colors. But definately on the pass side.

Got it!!! I was afraid that I would have to rig up some switch to hit when the inspection guy tells me to put it in reverse.

Ok John B or others...how about my scenario! I have the painless universal 18 circuit wiring kit, a modified 98 harness, a flaming river tilt column (with no switch at the base of the column), and a LS6/T56 combo. Now, assuming the "orange" and "brown" wire on the passenger side is correct....how will I get my reverse lights to work?

Mine was pretty simple, I found an empty key hot terminal on my fuse block, ran a single wire from there to one side of the terminal on the trans, and another wire from the other side of the trans terminal directly to the reverse lights. If it doesnt work at first, just switch the wires on the trans terminal. The circuit is only completed when the car is in reverse.
