Default 1955 chevy install

I know the question came up in the past so here are the answers I have now, if you are interested.
My car:1955 chevy 4 door 210
My motor: 1999 f body ls1
Tranny: 4L60e

To all those interested here is what I came up with after positioning my engine in the frame.

I am using stock corvette LS1 motor mounts and they will work if I use the rubber biscuit for the original front mounts. With all that said I am going to have to fab the mount that goes on the frame but that was expected.

I have all of the camaro accesories and brackets and they are all going to work with the corvette motor mounts. The only thing I am going to have to do is mill off one of the bolt holes on the A/C compressor it was the only thing that was hitting. I think this will be ok because that leaves 3 bolts to hold it in place and they are M10 metric so I don't see a problem there.

Due to the positioning of my motor I am not going to be able to run the stock camaro exhaust manifolds due to the fact that the drivers side flange hits the 605 steering box. Other than that I have about 3/8 inch clearance. I am going to use corvette exhaust manifolds because it looks like the corvette exhuast manifolds will work fine and have plenty of clearance.

After fitting everything up it looks like I am going to have to cut my oil pan to clear the steering linkage. I wasn't real clear about this in the beginning because I have spoken to some that have done this conversion and they said they didn't have to cut it but I see no way aroung it.

I know that street and performance sells most of the stuff to do this conversion but I think if you buy everything you need to do it you will end up spending about 2300 dollars.
1200 for brackets
895 for a harness
200 for motor mounts

right now I have 2800 in the drive train
$40 in motor mounts ( factory corvette)
$50 in fuel pump ( factory camaro )
I don't think I will have to reprogram my computer. (I am going to try it at least )
I am building a vats module that I can plug in my cig lighter for extra theft protection.
As you can see I am trying to do this as cheaply as possible while still doing a good job.

COULD YOU PLEASE POST A PICTURE OF THE COVRVETTE MANIFOLD ON THE DRIVER SIDE CLOSE UP ON THE STEERING BOX AREA? I GOT THE CAMARO MANIFOLD TO FIT BY GRINDING THE FLANGE AND RE DRILLING THE 3 BOLT PATTERN TO MATCH THE PASS SIDE. STILL VERY TIGHT. SO I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN SEEING YOURS. I HAVE A 67 CAMARO.

And $895 for a harness!!!! Why not just rework the OEM LS1 harness for half of that price????

I haven't got the corvette manifold yet but looking at the pictures it should fit nicely. One other option that I thought of was to cut the manifold at the flange and turn it about 30 degrees. When I get it installed ( a couple of weeks) I will post a link to the picture on the same thread.

John B. After asking for advice on this swap on a couple of boards I always got the same comment "call street and performance". That is why I included it in my post. That said, the justification for me not going that route is the prices. Unfortunately I don't have S&P money. The 1200 price for the brackets was given to me by a fella in georgia that had used street and performances motor mounts and subsequently had to use all of their custom made brackets because the stock stuff would no longer fit.
The 895 is the cost for their harness.
I am going to rework my own harness( I do automation and electrical control work ) Hopefully it will work when I get done.

How did you handle the fuel tank/fuel pump issue? I am starting a 55 convertible and I want to kep the car looking as original as possible. There is one solution, using a Ford F-150 rear tank, but that requires removing the spare tire well. The stainless tanks are nice, but way too pricey at this time. Thanks.
