ls1 in a v6 camaro
Matt
Aslo, when the time comes to sell, the fact that the VIN # decodes as a V6 came come back to haunt if if you do an engine swap.
Good Luck <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
just curious i have a 01 firebird v6 auto
just acquired a 99 ls1 with wiring and computer auto trans radiator, drive shaft, fuel pump, and 160 instrument cluster, debating on trying swap myself or finding some one with in 100 mile radius of cape girardeau missouri. which would be best dropping subframe and engine or dropping trans and pulling engine out front, and what is best way to pull engine up with pull hook so far back. any and all help with my dilema would also be appreciated

Coolest way to get the motor out is to disconect and lift the front like a funny car. Leave the wheels on and scoot it out. This is easier as there are connections you can't get at until the motor is a little lower. Don't miss the brake boost hose or the abs connects, yank the pcm and push the dash harness out beforehand
There is a weird ground that goes from the engine to the driver side of the engine bay that has to be removed.
Coolant lines.. tranny lines..
Like Bob mentioned, the abs electrical brake connectors need to be disconnected.
Then, 6 k-member bolts, 4 bolts for the tranny cross member then 2 nuts and 2 bolts for each shock.
What I did was lift the car up and set down the K-member on 2 stacked pallets. I had enough room to get to the k-member bolts and the whole assemble just sat there wile I was able to lift the car over it. Then I used a pallet jack to pull the whole assembly out.
Don't forget to disconnect the driveshaft and torque arm (obvious ones).. but ALSO remove yoru tranny linkeage!
Also.. drain the fluids first!! Oil... coolant likes to drip as you tilt the engine and so does the tranny fluid.
