Possible ecotec swap
I was seriously thinking about buying a Fiero and doing an ecotech swap on it. I came across the Datsun 510 and fell in love. I think the body styling is so classic. Does anyone have experience with this car? Would the engine bay be too small? From what it sounds like, the Datsun 510 is RWD. If this is true, what would be a good tranny that would bolt on to the ecotec engine?
I'm planning on getting the 2.2L N/A Ectotec and then doing forced induction. The tranny needs to be affordable, smooth, reliable, and able to take a good amount of power (~400whp).
I'm planning on using this car as an all around fun car, maybe going to the track during "drift days". Any tips, suggestions, flaming is greatly appriciated

what car are you going to swap the eco in the 510 or the fiero.
510:
Is rwd and alot of people swap in the nissan SR20DET. may wanna contact Mckinney Motorsports they do alot of work on 510. an ecotech would be a cool swap, there's some company's that sell turn key turbo ecotechs. didn't the last of the s10's get the ecotech? that tranny should work.
fiero:
you can fit just about any motor in a fiero and the tranny and diffs are pretty strong.
good luck with whatever swap you do

I was looking at crateenginedepot. They had them for 2k plus shipping ($300). That is an extremely good price for a brand new engine ;-). I called the company you mentioned. They said the one problem might be the shock towers. He said the ecotec is a very wide engine.
