Default Conversion gas Tank (Pics)

here are some pics of the tank I have been working on for my 71 camaro LS1/T56 coversion. I used a fuel pump setup from tanks inc. A sunken steel plate had to be welded on to the tank so that the fittings would clear the trunk floor. I had 5.5' tank depth yet the fuel pump assembly and sender needed at least 6' inches. It was a PITA to get them to work. If I would do it again I would not go with the Tanks inc setup. I also need to relocate the return tube away from the pump. Let me know what you guys think

Thought I should also swing you guys a question. I am looking for some kind of silicone sealer...or any other sealer material that I can run along the welds on the tank to make sure they remain sealed before I paint the tank. I pressure tested it and the welds are good.

The sender is from Yogis and should work with the stock GM fuel gauge (o-90 ohm)

The welds are what is going to leak, and if you tested it and it was ok, it should be fine. I dont think a silicone will do anything if it does leak thru a weld....
That and I dont know of too many sealers that wont be affected by gasoline...

You can get some fuel tank sealer from Eastwood, I think. If you can find an aircraft supply place, you can get it there. You mix it up, and pour it into the tank, then slosh it all around. In your case, you could probably reach in, and use a paint brush to apply it. Nice tank, by the way! It's been my experience on boat tanks, even if it pressure tests, the welds might start leaking over time. Plus, no matter how nice your welds are, stainless WILL rust around the Heat Effected Zone eventually.
