Default V6-v8

I Just got a great deal on a 99 5spd. How hard would it be to swap in an LS1? Will it fit or would there need to be cuting involved? If thats the case i'll just keep the V6 and keep searching for a LS1 or an SS.

check the archives. THis brings up a lot of debates whether it should be done or not. You do have a good year to do it, if you want to do it, as you already have the plastic gas tank and interior pieces. You'd have to swap out the Kmember and no cutting would be invloved.

It will fit. Youd prolly need a new k-memeber, but theres people put there that have done it, just have to have time and skill.

The only reason to do this would be to save on insurance. Otherwise, it's less expensive just to buy the V8 to begin with.

it will nickle and dime you. do a search for "Magnus", and look at his website, he has documentation of his v6 to v8 swap. pics, part numbers, the whole shebang.

IMO, just buy an ls1 fbody, prices are comming down all the time.

It would be easest if you could find a 99 doner car with a t56. As you will need every thing to do with the engine . Kmember , rad , trans , rear end ,
