HELP!! Do I need a MAF or not??

I am putting a 95 T/A LT1 M6 in to a 81 vette. I will have no smog or emissions. A lot of people are telling me I need to keep the MAF because
it help with perfromance, and some say I don't need it.

I don't know If I need it or Not. What would be the purpose of it???
I notice I can get the complete wiring kit with and without the MAF
connections.

if you get the computer tuned for speed density you wont need the maf sensor

Thanks, I understand that. What I need to know is, is it worth keeping??
do I really need it?? Is it only for emissions purpose only.

maf reads airflow to the engine and ajusts fueling for the amount of incoming air. if you dont want to have your engine tuned by a pro then you need to keep you maf

what does tuning by a "pro" cost... ya know, a tune where you wouldn't need your MAF???
