I got into stripping down my LS1 and finally got it off the pallet to remove the oil pan and got to thinking it might not work. It's going into an 84 Camaro, and came out of a 2000 Corvette. Is this oil pan useable on the 3rd gen swap or would I need a 4th gen pan or aftermarket? What other things should i look out for with this swap? Is there any modification needed to the sub frame of the car? Just general heads up sort of stuff. Thanks for the help ahead of time.

A 4th gen camaro/T.A. pan will work. I am using the pan that came on my LQ4
6L truck motor. The only diff is that the truck pan holds an extra quart but will hang down lower. This is not a concern to me so I will use it.

We make an aftermarket road race oil pan for the LSX engines. It has a 4 way trap door baffle, -10AN oil cooler lines, and 2 -4 AN plugs for oil returns for twin turbos/superchargers. It comes with the fabricated pan, oil pick up tube, new GM gasket, and oil pan stud kit for $499.

I agree what company, and it should work with my 3rd gen swap right? I was debating running dry-sump but if this comes with all the goodies I might stick it out with wet sump.

so unless you're building a extreme G machine, you wont see any oil control problems from the stock fbody pan...
just savin ya a few bucks.

Unfortunately I'm going all out on this build, I doubt stock is an option. I plan on over 1000 HP and running below 10 seconds. These are all plans subject to change up until I purchase the part. But I'd like to squeeze as much power out of that engine as is possible.

i didnt want to be the guy to say it twice until someone else did, but yea.
the stock pan is fine waay past 1000hp.
if you get the chance to see one, you'll see what i mean... its built better for performance usage then any other OEM pan ive ever seen.
thats why theres no aftermarket fbody/vette/truck pans.... the only aftermarket pans are for engine swaps.... and of thoes, over half are modded stock ones. lol

if anything u SHOULD stick with the stock oil pan
being that its a structural part of the block
more so in the alloy block
most of the aftermarket pans are just fabbed from aluma sheetmetal
too thin to reinforce structure i would think
i assume ur gonna use a tubular k-member
shouldnt have any oil pan to k-mem. clearance issues
maybe with a 1000 hp u can be the first ls1 conversion 3rd gen
to run 8's or kwiker
betta move kwik tho
cuz i know a guy whos building a 402 8:1 1/2 in head bolt/stud
etp headed, solid, roller blow thru turbo setup with a 850 dp carb
with a precision 101 mm turbo
it "should" make 1100+ on pump gas AND METH injection
also i understand hes using a main girdle with a stock f-body oil pan
in a 85 camaro with 9 in rear

Didn't know that, thanks for the tip, I'll be looking into some more mods for suspension and body a little later on after the car is stripped and I see what i need to save for. My dad is a distributor through speedway so i might be able to get a k-member through them hopefully.

Thanks, I'll be looking into tubular k-members soon and if I can get the vette oil pan to clear then i'd keep it and save the extra cash. It did come out of a corvette so I have all the necesarry oiling elements. Thanks again for the luck.
