Default Accelerator pedal? Hooker Headers?

Well, after trying to connect the throttle, it is VERY obvious that my gas pedal, with the pivot outside the interior, will NOT clear the intake. So I was just wondering what kind of set-ups people will be running with the 69 Camaro/LS1 setup? I've already got a Lokar throttle cable, and don't know what to use. Please help!!!

I'm also posting this to see if anyone has used the Hooker Headers made for a LS1/69 Camaro application? I know it's made to use with their motor mounts, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if it will fit S&P's motor alignment? I'm using stock steering. I have about 2 1/2" from the back of the intake to the firewall.

If it wasn't for this website, I would be nowhere on this swap - so thank you so much, guys! Once I get some experience in this swap, hopefully I'll be the one offering advice to people.

\You'd be the first to get the hookers Why don't you call hooker and ask them? Like i said in a previous post, they're nearly identical to my passenger side pacesetters (i flipped and twisted them in photoshop to double check, matching flange width to scale them) and they're really close to the same. (i've got s&p style mounts) The pass side pacesetter fits with a HUGE amount of clearance to the firewall... And width wouldnt be an issue at all. Look up the hookers. They sure do look pretty. Post up results if/when you do phone them up!

Well I've already called them, and they were absolutley NO help. I asked the man what kind of clearances they had with stock steering, and he just said "I'm not sure." I asked him if he knew any measurements of where the motor was setting when they fabbed up the headers, and he replied with, "I'm sure we used a common motor mount and fabbed ours from that." I told him I use S&P motor mounts, and he said I need to use their motor mounts. I told him I didn't want to pull my motor again, and all he said was,"They're made to fit with our motor mounts. Have a nice day."

I wish they would have known some measurements. So, hopefully someone on here has their motor installed with Hooker's motor mounts? Somebody? Anybody?

Morons don't have any photos of the mounts. Found out they're part number 12611HK..... but i cant find a pic of the damn things. Anyone got a clue where to find the dimensions on these?

Hope you get some answers about the headers, as I was wondering the exact same thing.

But to answer your 1st question, I used a 6-cyl gas pedal and it worked almost perfect with the Lokar throttle cable. It's hard to explain how it's configured without seeing it.

Although not exactly the same...I used a '95 Pontiac Gran Prix pedal and cable buy adding a spacer under the pedal mount the length was just right.

Find 6 cylinder nova pedal and you will be fine. i did mod a 87 montecarlo pedal for mine for a more comfy pedal.
Pls let us know when you get that headers.

Here's an original 69 Camaro 6 cylinder accelerator pedal. (also used on cross ram Z28, BTW).

Perfect for an LS1 swap! It fits in to the same location as the mechanical style, but instead of the underhood "arm" that goes on the shaft, you just have a snap clip.

Also look for Firebirds and 6 cyl Novas for the pedals that John showed. There are 2 on Ebay currently. This is how I'm doing my 67.

Well thanks for the input on the pedal, guys! There's a local first-gen Camaro shop in town called Imperial Camaros, so I'll stop by and pick up a 6-cyl. pedal from them.

I called Hooker for the 3rd time and got a little more information from them. Looks like their motor mounts are designed to put the LS1 in the EXACT SAME location as the SBC originally was. The man couldn't give me any more information because the people who may know about it were off work already.

I guess I'll try again - In the meantime, STILL no one knows whether or not the Hooker headers will fit in my 69 with SnP motor mounts and stock steering?

Stay away from the Firebirds! They use a cable but it bolts to the firewall instead of snapping in and the pedal end of the cable is an "eyelet" that hooks to a "pin" on the pedal. Stay with the Camaros or Novas. HTHs.... Bill

Those plates look close enough to our mounts, and the S&P ones. I say go for them, a great option for swappers.
