Hi, I'm new to the site and I'm wondering about this:
What would be involved in transplanting an '04 GTO LS1 /w 4L60E into a 1980 Elcamino?
I don't have the engine yet but I'm considering it. The seller is asking about 6k$ which is alot but considering that I'm in Finland and you dont see these engines available very often over here it could be worth it...
Oh btw its missing the damper, ac pump and belt tensioner. CPU, harness, MAF sensor and so on is included.
What do you think all the required parts would cost to make this swap? And is there alot of modifications to it? What I've read on this site the oilpan might have to be modified and of course the crossmember/driveshaft as well.
Thanks in advance,

Yeah i know its expensive.
Lets do some math
I find an engine in the states for like You said 3000$. How much could shipping to Finland be? perhaps 1000$... So 3000$ + 1000$ equals 4000$.
Fastforward a month or so, engine arrives in Finland. Customs want their share. 3,5% + 22% VAT. I have to pay this for both the engine and shipping(I'ts sick I know)
So 4000$ x 3,5% x 22% = 5050$ -> It aint cheap to live in Finland if youre into american cars...
The good thing about this motor that I have found is that its in Sweden and I can get over there for about 300$, check the engine out and then do my decision.
So to you that are still reading I'm asking what would the extra parts required to install this engine cost me? What is involved?

Wow you have an El Camino in Finland? How did you find it, they must be rare there, did you have to import it? Anyway, you will have to change the oil pan and pickup and I am not sure if GTO accessories will fit but check this thread for lot of info. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-swaps/252644-ls1-swap-into-1986-elcamino.html
