corvette fuel filter fitting question,

Default corvette fuel filter fitting question,

on the female outlet to the fuel rails, does that line just press in or is there some type of a plastic bezel around the line to clip into the filter? It seems to be the same type of fitting as the fuel rail is, but when I press in a line that looks to be the same setup off the firebird, it clicks but doesnt seem secure and certainly isnt water tight.

The fuel tube that you push into the female end of the Vette filter might have some very minor in and out play. There is an o-ring in there that will seal up & around the bump tube(or pinch tube) that you are pushing in. Despite the minor play, it should'nt leak, especially when the fuel pressure is applied & puts pressure on the assembly. Hope this answers your question. Gar

I used a corvette filter/reg on my ls1 swap and it is the same as the male quick disconnect fitting on the fuel rail. I too notice a little play when the male fitting was pressed into the filter/reg but mine holds pressure. I believe the fuel line pressure aids in the sealing of the quick disconnect fitting and maybe won't seal well enough under vacuum. Pressurizing the line and see if it leaks.

i dont have it all together yet, but i dont wanna put something under that that is gonna spew. im 100% confident this wont seal. If it would, in theory i could blow into it and it should hold air, it gomes right out the fitting. Even tried compressed air

Default Vette Fuel Filter/Regulator

If your sure it's going to leak, then it must be the wrong size/type bump tube fuel line, or a defective filter/seal. What else could it be? You did'nt break the female metal port away from the can, did you? They are somewhat delicate. Gar

yep was the wrong size tube I ended up cutting the fuel rail apart and taking that line since I have new fuel rails anyway. Now I need a 3/8" compression to -8AN fitting. I also ended up taking that 4 pronged clip out and separating the tabs some. It now holds vacuum.

Thumbs up Fuel Fittings...

The compression to AN fittings you need are available at your local hydraulic supply house. Eaton-AeroQuip makes them as well. I don't believe that fitting is available going from a 3/8" tube, or -6(compression) straight up to a 1/2" tube, or -8 AN. It will probably only be available in a -6 to a -6 fitting. You will then have to buy a -6 to a -8 adapter fitting. This is defeating the purpose of increasing fuel flow in my opinion though, as the volume of a system is only as good as it's smallest I.D. of its fittings and/or tubing. -6 fuel line will flow enough fuel for, at least, 450 h.p. with the proper fuel pump, etc... ive already got -8AN and a -8AN pickup out of the tank. So its gonna be -8 from the pickup to pump to a -6an to -8an adapter I guess then to -8an to the rails which are using -6an to connect the two.

Default LAST fuel system hurdle w/ corvette filter, female outlet to rails

what did you guys do for the feed line adapter on the female side of the regulator going to the rails? I need to find a way to adapt the 3/8" quick disconnect nipple I cut off the stock fuel rail to 8AN. This is the line that will be feeding the rails off the regulator What did you do to make that work?

Basically what I did was cut the quick disconnect fitting off a fuel rail I had and it is the same size as the outlet of the vette fuel filter. All i need is some type of a compression fitting from 3/8" tube to -8AN.
