Default Starter wiring

I have the 6.0L and the 4L80E in the K5.
I hooked up my starter today and tried to get the motor to crank but nothing happened. I don't have the main harness hooked up to the motor yet. I just have the factory 6.0L battery cables: positive going from the battery terminal, to the junction block (to alternator), and to the starter. Even though the motor won't start unless the harness and PCM are connected, I thought the stock K5 starter solenoid wire comming from my ignition switch would at least make the starter work. Am I retarded?

You also need a ground from the motor back to the frame or negative side of the battery.

How are you getting power to the blazer ignition, the factory harness for the blazer probably draws power from the positive post of the starter. If you did not hook up the 2 large (# 10 or 12) Red wires from the blazer engine harness to either the constant hot battery terminal on the starter, the junction box, or another constant battery source of power the starter will not get power because the IGN switch has no power.

Will do that, I haven't hooked that up yet.

I tapped both wires into the battery junction block for power and the interior has power, headlights, turn signals work. The ignition does nothing though. I think I might have the neutral safety switch unplugged. Didn't even think about it.
