Most of the time people run an elbow to the passenger side and either relocate the battery, or go under the battery.

JTR is one of the few places that carry them, 1 1/2 primaries and 2 1/2 collectors barely better than stock manifolds.

Relocate the battery to the frame rail, use a 90* elbow after the TB. You should have plenty of room then.

Hey, can you tell me if you mounted the motor as low as possible, and which oil pan setup you went with ( 5.3 shortened or not? or camaro pan?) Cause im in the middle of swapping in an ls1 but the truck is going to be body dropped so i need to know how much room there is between the top of the motor and the bottom of the hood??

that looks kickass.

as far as the air intake goes, id run a short radius 4" to 3.5" 90* elbow like whats on my car, put the MAF on it, then run the air intake to the fender, behind the battery.

done right, theres just enough room. and it would look cool.

another option is to the side, then straight down, down low, next to the frame rail... if this is a street only truck, thats a real option.. if it sees offroading at all, id keep it higher.

you can go anyway u want low noma. u can notch the frame for the 5.3 pan or buy a ls1 swap oil pan. you can even cut and reweld the 5.3 or camaro pan to clear the cross member. depends on how bad u want it. you can get the pan shortened for less than a 100$ while the swap pan is around 400.

i know that you can do it all of those ways but because of the body drop im not sure if i can clear the hood with the engine. Is there 3 inches between your hood and motor?

any way should work unless you totally f up the motor mounts position. you might want it higher up in teh engine compartment cuz i know i dont like my oil pan hanging down there that low.

Truck is turning out well. Again as for the elbow you have other options. Here is what I did on my truck. You don't see the filter but I just relocated the battery to the bed in my case. If that is the way you want it then thats cool, but if you want it done alittle different here is an idea. I got the elbow from the local International big truck dealer.
