Default Engine codes ?

Could someone give the common engine codes(LS1,LS2,LS6, etc) ? Sorry , I've been gone for a long time . This would be going into my 67' rs/ss, trying to decide what would be fairly inexpensive and could generate decent power(+400rwhp).

First of all, sweet ride!
and to answer your question, somewhat..

LS1 - 5.7L, rated at 345hp, available from the F-body, C5 Corvette,
LS6 - 5.7L, same block, diff cam/intake/heads, something like 405hp, C5 Zo6 vette, Caddy CTS-V (up to 05 i believe), found sometimes in 01-02 f-bodies minus the cam..
LS2 - 6.0L, slightly diff gen4 block, available in the new Caddy V's, C6 vette, GTO, 400 rated hP,
LQ9 - 6.0L, Iron version of LS2, diff intake/injectors, can be built just like a LS2. truck engine. silverado, burb, escalade. 345hp stock with restrictive truck stuff.
LS7 - 7.0L rated at 505hp, 13k crate engine cost, Ti rods, all the goodies, C6 ZO6 engine.
There's a few more truck engines, a 5.3 and a 4.8, i believe, they're the LQ-??

Note that the LS1/6 have a certain electrical system, while the LS2/LS7 have a slightly different.

From a budget point of view, there's nothing wrong with a LS1. The engines are very similar, and with full boltons, including LT headers (lsx's love LT's) LS6 or better intake, (note that LS2 is inferior to the LS6, even with its 90mm TB), UD pulley etc... they're good for about 350 rwhp, with cam and boltons, you're looking at 425+ rwhp.
Find a low mileage dropout, clean her up and stick on some boltons, maybe stab in a cam, and you'll be set. If you can afford it, I'd go with a new crate LS2 just for the extra displacement and newness.

Only note I'll add is this.

LQ4. 6.0l truck engine. Rated at 300 to 325hp depending upon application. Used in pickups, SUV's, and vans, starting in 1999.

LQ9 6.0l truck engine, HO version. Rated at 345hp / 380 ft-lbs. Used only in Caddy SUV's and Silverado SS's

There are a bunch of other engine codes, like LM7 and such, but nobody really cares about them, because they're for the 4.8l and 5.3l truck engines. Which cost a little bit less than the 6.0l, but give up a fair bit of displacement, so why spend the $$$ building them, right?

Thanks fellas ! This really helps out on my decision .

I found an LS1 block for dirt cheap but it needs resleeving, is it worth it ? About how much does resleeving cost ?
