Pete...

Are you aware the GTO shifter you are using, is the furthest back location available.

Camaro T56 sits about 3" further foward, and the Viper sits on the other square plate on the top of the trans, about 6" further forward again.

I only mention, as it looks like the stick will sit pretty far back in the car ( or perhaps thats what you want ? )

I have a standard Camaro shifter here if you wanted to try it. FOC.

Yes Stevie, was gonna ask the question about a Ripshifter, from Aus, I think it was in a group buy on here a while back.
Thanks mate, I`ll take you up on the offer of the Camaro one if that`s ok.

Hi Pete1 outstanding work....love it.
I have some questions about what you are doing?

What kind of mods have you done to the firewall, and transmission/driveshaft tunnel to make it fit?

how about mouting the engine? I know the previous engine was a transverse mount. How did you go about adapting the LS1 in there.

My next project is going to be a FWD to RWD with a LS1. I was looking at the engine bay yesterday and wondering about the ??? above

I guess I should have read the thread before posting......found the answers to the questions.....This is great inspiration for my next project....woooot!!!

cheers

I like it.

No one would ever expect that car to be that fast. If I raced that car from a stoplight and lost, it would ruin my day. Until I found out it had a REAL engine in it.

Nice work!
Where did you get the square tube bent at?
I like how you steered it past the oil pan with just one piece, not 3.
Cant wait to see the trans tunnel sheet metal.
This project rocks!

Me and my buddy Scott, work together for an engineering co. all the machinery we need is close to hand, and we have the bosses blessing

The square tube, we just passed it thru the rolls a few times.

Need to source a pair of tubular headers, but unsure which ones to go for ?
Then fabricate the complete exhaust, to make enough room before the tunnel is fabricated, so progress will slow down for a while.

Very impressive man!! Not sure what headers could possibly work. You may want to design your own...

I got a set of headers from Street and perfromance that were close to what I needed. Had them just tack weld the pipes to the flanges. Modified one pipe on each header welded them up and sent them to Jet-Hot.
S&P will also sell you one header rather than a set so you can get one of one type for one side and another for the other.

Not for a while yet mate. If I have to import the headers, it could take 3 weeks `til we can even look at the exhaust
