Default i've got a 65 vette...

that was a stolen recovery.. it was wrecked and burned... so long story short.. I have no problem bastardizing the hell out of it with a latemodel motor.

The question is....before I dive in... do you all think I could get the motor low enough and in the correct using the plates that convert ls1 to sbc mounts or should I just fab?

Also.. when it comes to transmissions..... would you use either a 6spd from an ls car and cut the floor.. or use the Keisler bellhousing for an ls1 with the 5spd with the modified tailshaft to fit the shifter hole in a c2?

any input is appreciated.. I doubt I will turn back.. I just want to be somewhat cost affective(especially in regards to the transmission)...

Your '65 frame is the same as my '70 so you'll use the same solutions that I (and all other '63-82 Corvettes) did.

T56 >> Keisler 5-speed

I recall reading/hearing somewhere (but might be my imagination also) that the C2 tranny tunnel is tighter than the C3 - but it fits. Some others have also done the C2 ls1 successfully, so shouldn't be a problem - as scooter70 said there are alot of good web sites with info out there if you search. The trannys advertised so you don't have to cut your tranny tunnel seemed to cost a small fortune IMHO....
Good luck ... should be sweet when done, I always did like the C2s ... I think the 65 had drum brakes all around - you going to go to discs?

on a c2 the motor is hung from a plate that goes under the water pump... there are no mounts... there are no traditional mounts.... this is the part that bothers me... I think I might buy one of those foam ls1's to try to position it right...

martin-I plan to use a late model steering rack and full discs all around
