no i cut the flange in half and put them in one at a time.

Hmm.. my headers slip in from the bottom very easily, fully assembled - the only thing I need to do is have the steering shaft removed, as it passes through the middle of the primaries on the drivers side.

wow I removed starter and it wasnt even close still. So when you want to pull the headers you need to remove motor? I dont understand how cutting the flange in 1/2 will give you any better installation. The primaries slip fit?

Yeah, lots of headers are slip-fit for reasons like that. Mine were slip fit, but I welded 'em all up Here's a pic of my passenger side header:
Looking at the pic, you can see where I re-routed the one primary to pass in front of the starter (#8 cylinder). That was the only change I had to make to that header, and it slips in and out of the engine bay with everything installed on the motor. I'd like to see some pics of other modified headers, maybe we could come up with a good unified design.

i used the AJE 4.6 swap K member. my pass side header is all tacked up and there were no mods needed except for the flange, it falls in with the starter out. i am working on my drivers side now which will be alot harder, it seems to hit my trans pan and of course the steering shaft. my headers are BBK 1 3/4 for a 351. whats holding me up right now is expanding the 'dimpled' part of the header. ive tried 4 different muffler shops and no one can expand it to a round shape. if i cant find a place to do it i will be replacing the first inch or so of every primary

wow my ds header was easy to make and i cannot get the ps to fit to save my life. Did you guys slip it in from top or bottom? I even tried to jack the motor up as much as possible on the PS to give me more room. LOL there is no way mine is going in , plus the OEM trans cooler lines are in the way. Also, brains i looked at that pic of your header and compared it to my mac 302 long tubes and the primaries are routed different. Yours drop down much more abruptly and closer to the front of engine. Im using a UPR 4.6 kmember FWIW

Dave, they definitely drop down quickly -- I have a LOT of room near the firewall with these installed. Thinking about it more, I'm pretty sure mine would only work with an aftermarket K-member too.
