Default Chevelle LS1 Wring Intergration

Need some hints and help on intergrading my 71 Chevelle and a 99 LS1/T56 Camaro electric systems.

I had someone local convert my harness to a stand alone system. But I need some direction on how to intergrade the Electrical system from the Chevelle and using the LS1 system. Which part to use or rewire? I know I will have to reprogram my ECM, but that will be next.

1) Starter
2) How to remove the old Regulator and/or rewire it to the LS1 harness.
3) Check engine light to the Chevelle Systems check light wiring.
4) A/C System
5) Backup light switch.

Any help !? and Yes, I know and have read some of the other post. but at this point, they are a lot to read an understand what I need to know. I just need to know the simple facts and direction.

Thanks.

1. You can hook the start wire (from the chevelle underhood harness) from the old SBC starter directly to the new starter.
2. You should not need you old regulator system at all. The only wires going to the LS1 alternator should be the main battery charge wire, and then a single wire that goes in to the LS1 harness and back to the computer.
3. Hook the light bulb to the check engine light wire from the computer (this wire provides a ground output to illuminate the light.) and then hook the other side of the bulb to a + wire that is hot with the ignition in the start and run position.
4. What A/C compressor are you running, chevelle or the LS1 compressor?

G-Body.. thanks for the quick and simple.. trying to comprehend those other post would take me till next year, not that they don't have very good informatin ...!

these I can follow and get done now !

I am using the LS1 compressor.. I notched the frame due to using BRP type of plate mounts and will have my tubing guys modify or build new hoses.

Thanks again.

This must be different for the truck harness then eh? Running the green check engine light wire to the positive side then a ground to chassis it works fine.

I knew that the truck computer provided a ground output for the MIL light since my light works, but I checked my diagrams and the 98 also provides a ground output. I don`t have diagrams for the 99-02 f-body but I would assume it is the same, even the computer controlled carb computers provide a ground output, I think that is a standard thing for GM.

Let me take a look around and see if I can figure out how to hook up an LS1 compressor, I haven`t put A/C back in my car yet. Not sure if I am going with an LS1 compressor or mounting one on the top. Is you harness still set up to run the compressor via the computer? (do you still have wires at)

I used the purge valve on the intake and the original charcoal canister. Just took the purge line that used to connect to my 305 intake manifold and connected it to the purge solenoid on the LS1 intake.

As far as your a/c it is prettymuck like the thread above. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-swaps/469862-lsx-fox-body-c-help.html
If you want to use the LS1 computer to cycle the compressor it is a little harder and you have to add in a pressure sensor, but if you want to let the factory system from your car cycle it then you can just splice the wires from your old compressor to the new one.

Thanks G-Body

I have been reading up on that now, from what I have readed, you can do alway with the canister and just use the purge valve connected to the line from the gas tank.. or just use the canister with vac.(?) I might try and just use the purge valve and do away with the canister (cleaner engine area)

thanks all..
