Updates on my project.. (56k modem melter)
built a little jig thing so I could soda-blast and sand my firewall without banging my knees on my subframe (also powdercoated, didnt want to ruin that). Then I welded shut all the holes I could find (accidentally welded shut my throttle cable hole, DOH , block sanded it for a good 10 hours, then painted it white then color.. came out real nice..
after blocking half of it until my fingers had no prints left...
then paint (I didnt take a pic of it white, looked pretty cool though...)
then I took off the tailshaft of my T56 to fix a trans leak, (moron previous owner tried to fix it with JB weld, sticking it on the bottom of course. idiot. Dont have a picture of that, got frustrated with trying to get the tailshaft back on, finally got it (bearing race a little crooked), sealed with black RTV, and helicoiled the shifter bolts, yes, all 4. moron stripped them all. Some people cant figure out that M8 bolts dont need 100 ft-lbs in aluminum.. anyways...
got subframe on and squared up... then dropped engine in..
started assesmbling sheetmetal, with the help of a phone book and a large hammer, a crowbar, and lots of sheetmetal injuries.. it's pretty straight now. Just need to adjust door gaps..
got the hood on, aligned, and laid out my stripes. I was debating on whether to get Z28 style (not originally a z28, WAYYY too played out) and bumblebee stripe (It looks O.K.. and originally came with it..) so i came up with a compromise.. I've never seen a car with stripes like these, and I think it'll look fantastic.. Dont steal my idea.. mine mine mine..
Im real excited to get this far, it's going to be painted in the next few weeks, then it's electrical, plumbing, and interior, a few other minor details, and it's DONE! Please voice your opinions! just please dont mention the red coils clashing with my orange, lol. i know. oh, or the painted TB blade. I get bored while waiting for paint to flash, i've got a sweet orange harbor freight air hammer and broom handle, too.

thanks, dude. I'm in the process of shrinking your pics (stupid 8mp camera makes 3mb photos) and sending them to ya, thanks again for the sway bar, tonight i'm rebuilding a buddy's bike, turns out it burnt a hole through the piston , scoring the cylinder, all because a stupid pin on the power valve decided to disappear in the case. Keep up the good work. Your GTO kicks ***, i've never been in a car that fast before, the drive home felt awfully slow.

Olly,
You are really rollin' along now. Seeing your progress sends me out to work on mine! Some creative ideas on those stripes, what color will you make them? Keep up the good work

That looks GREAT. Very nice work.
I'd love to build a 67 or 68 as my next project (if I could do it without getting a divorce ); projects like this are inspiration. Keep up the great work!

Any constructive criticism or suggestions? I'm looking for input, not so much "looks good"..I think it could always be better....
68shortstep- I know it looks kinda plastic-y, but i'm not a fan of just silver and black. I'm happy with how it looks, I'm not going to change it.. add, maybe.. it's 100x better than when I got it..
update- brake calipers painted ..
