Default Dimensions of 5.3L vs. 6.0L?

I tried to do a search but couldn't find it. I'm curious to see if a 6.0L will fit easily in my '56 Chevy Sedan.

Thanks.

They are the same and are the same as the LS1 motors as well. It'll fit a 56 Chevy.

The only real difference is in the hight of the intake manifold, but they are easy enough to change.

Hey Jemo, good to see you on here  . Here are some measurements for you, these are from Street & Performance's website .

He's asking about a 6.0, which has an intake that is ~4" taller than an LS1, and the pan is deeper by 3" (same for 4.8 & 5.3). A rough vertical dimension from the crank centerline to the top of the truck intake is ~22". The crank pulley sticks out just a bit more, as do the accessory drives, but it's not very much. You could of course swap out the intake and pan for an LS1 version if clearance is an issue.

Perhaps someone on this board has done the swap, and could advise you on the fit.

Good luck,

Andy1

I know what he was asking for, but I could not find measurements like that for the 5.3 or 6.0L. It worked out well though, I was just trying to give him something to go off of, and now with your reply he has a good idea of the dimensions.

Also Jemo, here is another part of Street & Performance's site that may be of interest to you. http://www.hotrodlane.cc/56chevyinst...156install.htm

No problem, with that tall hood, you can fit the truck intoake in there no prob. There is a guy on here that fit a 6.0L with truck intake into his 79 Cutlass.. if it'll fit there, the Shoebox won't be a problem..

It should fit just fine, the truck accys fit under my stock el camino hood so you should have clearance. You will probably want to swap to a f-body oil pan for ground clearance though, the truck pan is 3" deeper.
