Made the intake. The pipe is from a diesel shop. The heads are stage 1 ported Ls6 heads. So I am fine there. The cam, well money for one, spent enough on the rebuild, and yes I know it will make more power. But, it is strong.......really strong. Once you hit it you are off, then at 4k it wants to blow the tires off. I am also curious to see how this cam does with this combo. My gear spacing is wide, since I am using a 3.27:1 rear. I am running 225's on the front and 245/45's on the rear.

2600lbs. is what it weighs right now. Only mod to fit the 245's was triming the fender lip 1/4-1/2". The rims are for miata's Rota Sub-zero's ....either 40mm offset or 38mm.

I hear ya, and im sure it tears the road up especially only weighing 2600 pounds! Just figured you migth go with a bigger cam in a 383 but hell im sure traction is non-existant as it is lol.

Did the heavy motor in the front throw off your handling? Does it still have the same balance and weight distribution?

I have to wonder that as well. The 4 banger in the Miata is an iron block engine though, so I don't think the LS1 is going to way that much more than the stock engine.

The car is about 200lbs. heavier.....a little more in the nose....I do need to corner weight it to see how much is up front. Handling is very good. Plug changes are easy compared to the f-bodies. Can be done in 20 minutes.

A friend of mine built an LS1/T56 Miata and used my corner weights on it...he's in around 2500 pounds, 56% front 44% rear.

You never get any chassis flex with that? What about weight distribution? Does it feel real heavy in the front when driving it (aka understeers all the time)? I was thinking about doing an LS1 RX7 but I do like miatas alot, despite their reputation. I've known about V8 swaps like the ford 302 but I've always dismissed them thinking it was retarded to put a heavy v8 in a light car and kill the weight distribution. However, the LS1 is a light engine and all aluminum, so I bet it doesnt set the distribution off that much. If anything some weight in the back end could fix it, just need a scale on all 4 wheels hehe

Thats the way it goes.
Build in an 700+ hp ls7x in my 928 gts, there are still a few bugs.
But i am down to needing an uprated tranny and carbon fiber brakes.

Update on my current progress. She is up and running again. I got 20mpg cruising around with the girl friend Sunday. Took a nice top down ride in colonial Williamsburg. I am finishing little things. This things moves.....I mean, hold on, or it will get out from under you!!!! Yes is will blow the tires off!!! |But if you quickly push it to the florr in 2nd at 25-30 mph, it it doing all it can to hold on. 120mph come quick. |i do have a roll bar in it which now helps the body from twisting. The car weighs 2650lb. full fluids. Add me at 165lbs. and somewhere over 400/400 plus rwhp/rwtq.....and we are jamm'n. I can not wait to get it tuned and some of the little items finished up. |I will post new pics. soon!!!!!

I would like to see a 1/4 time of 11.9 with a 125 mph plus trap speed. A miata member with a 306 kenny bell powered miata, ran a 11.9 at 129. Using 2nd gear to start off with. A t-5 trans. from a mustang. I believe he was making around 420rwhp and 440 rwtq.
