The MSD LS1 gnition box and a carb would be all you need, simple and light package. Werner machine also makes a front cover that uses a distributer drive. For a pure race car I dont see the need for an injection setup unless its forced induction. Carb will make more power generally, thats a fact (when air and fuel mix you get a cooling effect), but for diveabilty, cold start, emissions etc its hard to beat fuel injection.

I would like to do a tube chassied 62-67 ChevyII with the motor/blower out of my car and a BS3 just for a 'fun' race car. I used to be a die hard BBC guy but I bet I can get in the 8s very easy and reliably with a 2500lb car still using a stock GM cam - that would be pretty cool I think..

Another option for the engine(while not cheap) is a Roots blower setup for the LS1 like in the May issue of Hot Rod.

I like the direct port suggestion. Can you imagine a 408 with a solid roller cam and a 300+ shot of nitrous in a dragster that doesn't weigh anything???

Myself and another team I race with have been discussing attempting to run a blown nitro Gen III. A manifold is being built right now, and we have looked into the Werner front drive to be able to run the MSD 44 ProMag. It looks like we are leaning towards building our own front drive sytem to run the mag and fuel pump, though.

But, one of the things we have discussed is the fact that the whole combination would be illegal to run in our class. I don't think the Vintage Racing Association, and Goodguys would appreciate a Gen III competing. So, the engine would never be able to be used, aside from some match races, and testing. That's kind of a bummer. But, it may still happen. Stay tuned, and maybe we will see the first ever 5 second Gen III.

either way, that would be one bad *** thing to see, and the least you could use it for is to show what a gen III was truely capable of in full competition, even if you cant race as a legal car, it would still show the wrold what it was capable of, and that is a step forward

It is kinda a shame,...I wanted to build a LSx motor to put in the NE3 car

I can hear everyone screaming "they have a unfair advantage" now!
