I know Renegade Hybrids make an adapter plate to fit gen I small blocks to the Porsche trans-axle. They use an electric water pump and redo some of the radiator lines going to the front. It has a modifed gas tank too.
I've always wanted to take a '70-'80's Carrera and swap in a small block, and add a Strosek body kit, 3 pc rims. Holy hell that would be such a sweet ride.
Honestly though, I'd most likely do a 3rd gen RX7 swap before I do the Porsche. Or most likely just keep dumping money into my '02 Firehawk.

I know it is not my car, but i would not hack into a 930! They are great as is and can be made plenty fast, but to each his own, I feel sorry for the porsche, but that just me being a porsche fan i guess

Actually, they do not use a electronic water pump. They do cut the whole front of the trunk out for a radiator up front which I will not be doing. As of 2006 they have no LS1/transaxle related parts of LS1 conversion parts at all.

Yeah, that tends to be the ignorant answer amongst many Porsche fans. The thing you do not understand is that there is no hacking involved. I will be making 5 times the horsepower and torque of the flat 6, while improving the weight bias more towards the front for a better handling car without cutting the car up in anyway. Not to mention that the car will have a modern retrofitted H/AC system - and any porsche owner knows the AC in these cars is terrible and never worked that well right from the factory.
But to each his own!

That should be a blast when finished. What is the gearing in 4th with the 930 Transaxle? A G50 is $$$... but that overdrive is worth it.
Hats off to a very cool setup. I love that body style. Definately get before/after corner weight #'s.
I've put 20K miles on my conversion and love it. The accelleration is "therapy" for the mind

I'm a serious Porsche fan too. I've owned about 20 of them but I'm also a fan of sensible conversions that have a very good chance of making a good thing even better which is what I think this guy will end up with. After all, who woud want an AC Ace when you could have an AC Cobra?

you try getting loads of squat in a proker when your at the apex of a corner and you boot it!!! all im going to say is under stear!!
the 911's layout has allways been a bit of a good/bad thing! its great at the back end for getting out the corners but it does make the front go VERY light underhard acceleration!!! also can make them a little twichy under really hard breaking.
but the plus side is this thing will be a very nice track day car! loads of tail out fun. just hope the guy has shears in a tyre company! lol

You are pretty much on track. The 911's design is pretty amazing. The back heavy design allows for later braking since there is actually weight in the back and all four rotors share the work. It also allows the driver to get back into the throttle earlier in the turn than any other car on the track to shift the weight back under power and stay planted. We'll see I guess.
