Starter--Really?
In its' normal position, the starter motor runs into guess what, the dip stick tube. The next rotational (clocking) position, and the motor runs into the header. One more position places the starter motor low, but now the terminals on the solenoid are rotated and are now uncomfotably close to the block; battery terminal is within 1/4" on the engine block (requires wiring the starter before mounting).
Is there a more suitable starter that has a similarly short pinion without a snout support? Perhaps someone makes a strater similar to the stock one, but has that same short pinion gear. The Profom products look (pictorially) like a better fit, but they don't make one for the LSx motors. Suggestions?
Thanks,
