Any one have an update to this thread? I could muster a $20k loan to build a nice car and can afford high insurance, but I refuse to pay it.

I have a 89 Volvo 740 wagon that is getting a LS1 from a local fabricator in GA. Cheap on insurance, and it is a sleeper!!

I'm going to go ahead and also say S-10....but not just any S-10, get a reg cab short bed that's a base model as they're pretty light.

They might be done to death but there's a reason behind that....

Because they can be had for cheap, parts are everywhere, and if you have the know how it's not hard to get one down to under 2800 lbs curb weight in street trim, to include the V8.

Plus it can also serve as a parts hauler, while blowing everyone else's doors off. No one would suspect you were packing a V8 under the hood.

Plus the insurance company would never know you actually had a fast truck...unless you told them about it.
