Default inline pump question

I need to reroute the plumbing for my fuel lines. The new setup I'm thinking of will require the tank fitting for the pickup to be near the top of the tank... between the tank and the pump, there will be probably 6 feet of fuel line.

Is there any problem with 8 feet of plumbing between the intake of an inline pump and the pickup point?

My pump is a Walbro 255 - engine is a stock LS1.

Thanks

I don't think distance is the issue. If you are using an inline pump, the pump has to be below the tank as they are gravity feed. The pumps are good pushers, but poor suckers.

Also you want the pickup to be as low in the tank as possible. What happens when fuel level goes below the pickup?

What are you using this in?

It's used in a completely custom setup... LS1 in a Lotus 7 replica.

The fuel path will be something like this:

Red is pickup, Green is return, Black is balance line, Blue is to engine (red box would be pump and regulator).

Everything is pretty much accurate with respect to the height of the actual setup.

Currently the fuel is being drawn from a T in the balance line. This prevents the balance line from doing its job while the engine is running, and the right saddle becomes unusable when the fuel runs low. If I shut if off, the fuel transfers over, and then I can use it again.

I have a fitting where the red line is right now... it is used for a vent. I can use that for a pickup, and look into building a vent into the fuel gauge fitting.

Trying to do this to avoid removing the tank...
