RX-7 LS1 swap alright as of right now i got an 02 altima and i was all into modding it but it's a 2.5 so i did some basic exterior mods (IE, grill, black tails, tint, debadged, stock spoiler, not much) still planning on some black rims, black headlights and a new bbumper since mine got attacked by a rim a while back. and lately ive been thinking i wish i had a car with more power, much more power, at first i was thinking of doing performance mods to the alty but i realized its useless since it's a 2.5 I4 banger. i've been reading up the general modding info for performance on this website for newbies and i've been having idea(IE, heads, cams, bolt on, turbocharger, direct port N2O, better suspension and what not) i'm hoping to be able to do much of this work on the RX-7 i want by myself anyone know any good links that show the procedure for the engine swap from the rx-7 rotary over to an LS1 and T-56 tranny? i know little about cars, how much would a LS1 engine cost? any links? although i know little bout cars im looking up and researching like crazy on howstuffworks.com this forum as well as other forums. I'm also planning on going to school for automative technology at maybe UTI. so all help is greatly appreciated...BTW im new here. thanks

86-91 rx7 (FC) is easy to source for cheap and the LS1T56 drops in with a $370 mount kit from www.hinsonsupercars.com
you can fab anything else needed for the swap... radiator mounts, exhaust, a better fuel setup, etc. and it can all be done for pretty cheap.
the 93+ rx7 (FD) is much more expensive to find, $1500 for a mount kit but yes of course you end up with a prettier, more capable, more modern car in the end but you need to have a budget in mind before you choose a chassis.
either way, you will have a car that is as light, if not lighter than, your altima but with double the power and amazing handling and brakes... trust me, go for the LS1rx7!
I dont miss my highly modded GSR swapped autocrosser of a Civic hatch at all.
