Default XJ LS1 swap...

Haven't done it yet... I going to put a LS1 into my 90 Jeep Cherokee, to get things together I will drop in a 4.8 and get all the bugs worked out, then drop in the built motor.. Only problem would be wiring and gauges...lol I wonder if I could make a camaro gauge cluster fit into the dash...lol They do these swaps all day long in a wrangler so why not in a Cherokee same engine bay..

Whatcha think, it will be cheaper than to rebuild and add a supercharger to the 4.0L...

Hey man! Good idea! Normally Ide preach about the 4.0 and how you can make awsome power from it...or build a cheap stroker and get good results. But After starting my own LS1 swap, and seeing how simple these things are, I say go for it! Are you building this jeep for offroad? Or just adding a hot motor to a street driven jeep. Either way...LS1 is perfect I think. When my 4.0 in my jeep gives up the ghost...probably never...but when it does, Ill consider dropping in an LSx motor. Only thing though..I wouldnt rely on the wrangler swaps for too much of the physical swapping info. The bays may look similar but the Wranglers have quite a bit more room where it counts. The full frame helps because you can work without the front clip in the way and all. I really hope you go through with this...it might be the inspiration I need to start another LS swap right after this one! haha.

Well my 4.0 hasn't givin up yet, right now just trying to get all my stuff together for the swap.. Tranny is going to be a TH400 with a adapter to use the stock transfer case.. I guess that can be true about the engine bay, yes it will off road duty, but alot of street. Its my daily driver..
