Default engine mounts dumb question of the day

putting an ls2 in a 68 camaro.. both ats and s&p sell mounts that will bolt into the ls2 and then mount into the engine mounts for 68... will they work with the straight 6 or only work with v8's.. plan on trying ats mounts with s&p mid length headers..anyone ever try this? do i need v8 68 camaro engine mounts or are they the same?

sorry probably dumb questions

I made my own I used 65 nova mounts with my plates

I am not sure if the V6 mounts would work with the plates.....why would you want to use the V6 parts anyway.....Energy Suspension mounts or even the stock V8 mounts are easy to come by

If I understand right, your Camaro was originally an inline 6 right? If so to use either the ATS or S&P type mounts you need to get frame brackets for a small bloack V8. There are two different ones, one set for the 307/327 and a different set for the 350. The 350 set the motor lower. The brackets are genreally available, you will spend about $35 for the set. You will need to ask the ATS or S&P folks which ones you should use with their mounts and adapters.

With S&Ps brackets and headers, I had to ding the #1 and #2 primaires and grind a good bit off of the upper control arm mount. I wasn't happy. I don't think the straight 6 mounts will work. You'll need to get the V8 engine stands and motor mounts. That's what route I had to go.

The motor mount adapter brackets work fine but remember that when the mounts get spaced out the thickness of the 2 adapter plates the mounts will probably not line up with the frame brackets holes. Had to 'modify' them on my TCI Cehvy II subframe.

get the hooker mounts and headers from summit and save a couple thousand dollars.
