3rd gen or 98+ v6
3rd gen or 98+ v6 hey guys, i got to thinking about doing a swap today, and was kinda wondering which would be an easier swap...ls1 into a 3rd gen camaro, or 98+ v6 car?
Do you have to swap k-members when going from a 98+ V6 car??? If so, then its not much different. The actual swap into a 3rd gen seems fairly easy. You could honestly... install swap motor mounts, take off A/C compressor, motor drops right in... If you want to keep the A/C...its alittle more involved unless you drop the coin on a tubular k-member. I notched mine in about 3 hours and it works great. Wiring isnt as bad as you would think. I dont know how the V6 wiring looks...but I imagine that a lot of it wont work. The harness for the LS1 is really straightforward. It literally is a handfull of wires to get it to run. I think it comes down to which car you like better...? I LOVE my thirdgen TA. But I LOVE the way the LS1 cars run...so the swap makes perfect sense to me.

well i am wanting a 98+ bird, i love that body style and want to mod it either way i go, so i don't want to spend alot of money on a t/a cause i don't have it. and this won't be a first thing swap, i will have to get up some money for stuff first. but i have a neighbor that has a 3rd gen camaro that has sat for a while that i could prolly get for 400 bucks. i like that 3rd gen camaro but also the 98 bird too.
does anyone know if the k member will have to be switched from v6 to v8, and if so, what does a tube k member cost for these. i know i can get a 3rd gen tube k memeber for 500 that is made for ls1.

well i have decided to do the 98 firebird swap and was wondering if anyone knows where i can find any info on this swap. i have searched the forums here before and found a few things but i can't find anything about it now for nothing. can anyone help me out here. thanks
