Default fuel tank question

I am about to start working on the fuel system on my 72 camaro ls1 swap and have a few questions. First one is would a walbro 255 pump be sufficient to supply a heads and cam motor? Second, instead of putting a sump in my stock gas tank, can I use the stock pickup to feed the pump for fuel? I would like to do this so you dont look at the rear and see a sump and stainless lines coming out the tank. Thanks for any help, Josh

That pump should be sufficient. You need some kind of baffle to keep the fuel from sloshing around and starving the pump. I used a kit from tanks inc on my 71 camaro tank. It was a very tight fight and I usually don't recommend it because our tanks are really shallow......You can see what I had to do on my homepage. However, there is many other ways to do it. Do a search

Default fuel pump

Thanks for the help. I am learning alot from you pictures and descriptions on your webpage. Where did you mount your pcm? Here are some pics of my car, past and present. http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g113/joshebmw20/

I have the PCM in the engine bay ontop of my heater box. I made a plate onto which it sits. Most people put them inside the car. I just did not want to drill a huge hole on my firewall and the harness was not long enough.

Here are some more links that might help you with the fuel system.

Very nice ride. Love the wheels and seats. you are going to love the LS1 once you have it going. It sounds great and pulls hard for a stock motor( in my case)

Do you ever hang out at the NastyZ28 forum. If not you definetly need to get there and introduce yourself.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the kind comments guys. I definately appreciate them. I was unsure if I was going to like the new wheels. At this point I do. I hope I like the new motor also. Its a heads and cam ls1 with a t56. With the old motor it ran a best of 12.02, with the ls1 I would hope to see 11's with it. We'll see.

I'm also in the middle of an LS1 conversion in my Camaro. I bought some fuel pickups from APE, but have yet to install them. It allows you to have multiple fuel pickups in one tank and is supposed to keep air from entering the fuel lines.
