LS1 Catera I have been looking on the web and found alot of people are interested in doing a V8 engine swap into a Catera. I have contacted lingenfelter and they said yhey are looking into making a kit. I think we need more interested people to send them an email also. The catera is 2 inches narrower between frame rails. Not built on holden platform. Thanks Doug

We do not have anything to do this swap right now but may in the future. If we did it would be for an LS1 engine.

Should be doable. I was told the Catera used the holden platforn so should be easy to put an Ls1 into it. I friend if mine from the military had a Catera, we had talked a few times about swapping a V8 into it.

especially one with a blown timing belt with cracked valve guides, out of warranty.
Catera's have steering boxes, might not be too easy to run the exhaust

The aussie car (which I believe is the Holden Commodore) is on the GTO chassis, and shares pretty much nothing in common with the Opel Omega based catera. Just because the exterior looks vaguely similar doesn't mean they are related.

Here's the Opel/Vauxhall Omega (and first gen Catera)...
The previous generation Commodore was basically derived from the Omega, but it wasn't available with the LSx. The current generation is available with the LSx, but is shares pretty much nothing but the doors and glass in common with the previous generation.
Now, all that being said, there have been V8 swapped Cateras before, so I guess anything's possible if your fabrication skills are sufficient.

The Cadillac Catera i.e. Opel Omega B was built on the GM V-platform, the same was used for Holden Commodore VT that was built from 1997 to 2000. The Commodore VT could be equipped with the LS1 engine.
Also built on the V-platform was Holden Monaro i.e Pontiac GTO.
The current Monaro is built on the Zeta-platform as the new Camaro will be.
