Fuel Gauge HELP!!
Fuel Gauge HELP!! just wired up my fuel gauge on my 89 camaro... ITS way off!!! Im not sure how much gas i got in the 2000 camaro tank (alomost empty) And my gauge reads 3/4 full????? So i checked the old tank (89 camaro) and the ohm reading was about 9ohm empty, and then i checked the 2000 tank and it was 26ohm empty... now could i just put a resistor in series with the fuel gauge circuit to make it 9ohm or even put a variable resistor?? any thought about this?? The easiest way is to get a universal 0-90 ohm sending unit. that is standard for GM for many years. Strap the universal sender to the fuel bucket and your done. Your only other option is to change the gauge cluster out for aftermarket gauges and that gets pretty pricy.
LS1 tank uses a different OHM range. You can get an aftermarket gauge from Autometer through summit. Not too bad...like $40 or so. But then you have to send it back to them to get a new air core installed. That is only another $12. Not really bad at all. They sell programmable ones, if you feel like spending $100+ for it.

If that is the case then i just have to get a A-pillar and install the new fuel level gauge. Just really wanted to use my hold gauge. Dang!!! I will keep you guys posted on this
