Ok, Thanks for the info. By the way what type of fuel pump are you using? In tank or frame rail mount? I am thinking of going with the Walbro pump that mounts on te frame rail.

Well, I had a wild hair, and I purchased the Rock Valley tank, with the in-tank pump. It's probably the most expensive route to go (although it's a nice tank); it's just a little larger than stock, and I did want an in-tank pump. I've been reading a lot of guys are going with external pumps successfully though.

There are a couple less expensive routes to go with in-tank pumps, but the Rock Valley tank has good baffling. I've also read about some guys trashing an in-tank pump by not having good baffling, and letting gas get a little low.

+1 on the Rock Valley tank.

I bought the 20 gallon capacity. Largest one available with 2 straps. Larger capacity requires 3 straps and I didn't want 3 straps.

Hmmmm....I didn't do that much research, I guess. I didn't realize (or forgot) they had a 20, and larger. Did you have to remove the spare tire holder?

Yep. There are plates available from several sources but made mine. I will be running 17" front tires and 18" rears. Tires are too wide to fit in the spare well anyway so I figured the well was useless. Haven't quite figured out yet what I'm going to do if I get a flat.

Well, I haven't had a flat driving a car or truck in 28 years, not including trailers. I hope everyone can have the same luck as I do!

I quit carrying a spare in my hot rod last year. Now I bring a can of fix a flat and one of those small 12 volt air compressors under my seat and a AAA card in my wallet.

Hi Pat....hows the Stude running?

Good idea....and a lot easier than changing a tire anyway.

Stude is running great! Have a couple thousand miles on the swap now. Almost time to tear it apart again for this winter's project. Time to upgrade the rear suspension to handle that LS1 torque.

How do you like the Mattson radiator and support? The ones I have seen look like high quality pieces.

Just thought I would throw this in here so it was easy to find if somebody is looking. Was just shown at SEMA. I am not sure what pricing will be like, but we will see.

Default Tires and wheels

Hey,
I went with 18 rear and 17 front but the next time I need tires I will put the 19 on the rear and 18 on front maybe 20/19. The 17's look small up front but I like the front lower than the rear. we used to call it 'raked'.

Before you go too crazy with the large diameter wheels, most folks agree you need to have tires with enough sidewall to flex if they are going to hook up for you. Just something else to think about. Car is looking good!

Jim -

Maybe you should put on a set of those 30" wheels shown in Craig Morrison's SEMA pics on Chevy Talk....and carry a ladder behind the seat.

Seriously though, how is your build coming along? It's amazing how many little parts there are to assemble....and how expensive most of them are. I bought 1 rubber grommet last week....$11.31. At that rate, I'm going to have to get the wife a good paying job

Default mmm 30's

I appreciate the humor but the wheel wells are some pretty big holes. The original 14's stood real tall. Since I'm running all Corvette suspension I'm using Corvette rims and tire sizes. The build is going slow and cost definately is a factor. I did get the Rock Valley tank installed, I thought Paul said it was a 22 gal. but there are only two straps.

Default Engine Pics

I just got my gold leafing back on my coil covers, and recently painted my intake. Here are some pics:

I am getting real anxious to get this going. Waiting on parts. Hope to be done by spring and ready for the driving season.
