Default Can the A4 Trans dipstick be shortened?

Is there a way to shorten the dipstick and tube? I think I've seen this awhile back but have never heard anyone discuss it.

Whatever length you remove from the tube, you must remove from the dipstick. Then, remark the bottom of the dipstick with the same distance/markings that are on the factory tip.

I did this on mine, no problemo.

I seem to recall the dipstick is two pieces, a blade and a graduated end. It may be possible to remove the graduated end (I think it is riveted on?), shorten the blade, and re-attach the graduated end (might be fun to drill the holes in the blade).

I've heard of it being done, but haven't done it my self. Luckily, the dipstick / tube fit into my application with only minor "tweaking" to the tube to get it to clear the firewall.
