Default Ls crate motor

I need some advise. I looking at trans planting a Ls motor in a 62 Impala what I would like is to buy everything from one place if possible? I really dont need it to be a crate motor but I would like for everything to be nwe/rebuilt. I would like for the motor to make somewhere in the 500 HP range. can some suggest a place and what should I expect for price. I just want to plug it up and forget about it.Thanks Tim

If you want to make 500hp and want everything new or rebuilt, your best bet is a new LS7. They aren't cheap, but they make 505hp. Check them out here, http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/4152...Cubic-Inch.htm

Default How close to 500?

True the LS7 is 100 hp more but the LS2. Which stock is 405, but with high flow intake and exhaust it comes in about 450 and the quotes I got it was $10000.00 less. How much is 500hp worth.

Gotta be honest, for the almost $14k price tag, I would rather build up an LS1/6/2 motor and not be handcuffed by no ECM support (currently) and what not........but the dry sump stuff is

My motto: To each their own.......do what makes YOU happy....for me, it is a stroked LSx (not LS7) motor.

I agree Rott... Im building a LS2 stroker. Getting all forged shortblock to make a 402 for ~$3K. Add heads, cam, valvetrain, ignition, misc stuff, wiring & ecu for ~$3K-$5K more depending on hat you get and where you get it.

You guys aren't answering his question. He is looking for a pre-built engine with harness that is plug and play.

Check out http://www.turnkeyenginesupply.com/ They have what you are looking for.

To buy a package deal will really take a lot of $$. Isn't having to scrounge around for parts and deals what conversions are all about? Isn't that the whole purpose of this web site? My suggestion was a stock LS2 crate from GM and to put it into the car in question you are going to have to search for both parts and deals. It is a lot of work but the end result is well worth it.

For his application I don't think a "plug and play" exist. Your suggestion is about $20k just for the engine. My sugestion makes a lot morre since, at least to me. Anyone agree, are am I off in left field? I paid $11k for a LS2, bell housing, fly wheel, clutch and T56 ( all new GM)

How about having someone supply the package, S&P for instance, they could also do it for you.........

I agree your's is a better solution.

Now that I go back and read his post, it sounds like he should just take his impala to a shop and have someone do the entire install.
