It'd be pretty similar to putting it in a newer Mustang, since they both offered a SBF motor. I thought about doing it to boil the blue blood of the true Ford geeks

I've long considered putting a 65 body on a C5 chassis. The dimensions are close. If/When I sell my RX7 project off, I may well do that.

A lot of the Ford guys I know don't like the idea of a LS1 in a Fox...I could only imagine their reaction if they saw one in 65.

some guys are putting 4.6 cobra motors in notches -
They can sound pretty quiet and have a ton of power.

nice sleeper for the street racer type.

I'd like to find a 4.6L 32v notch and line up with mine to see how they compare. It'd be a pretty cool match I think!

Default LS1 in a 65 Mustang

A problem you may encounter is the early Mustangs have a narrow engine compartment due to the upper control arms carrying the weight. The spring towers definitely crowd the engine. You might want to consider changing out the front suspension too if you try and tackle this.

I think a 60's mustang coupe, all black, with some 17" halibrands & a ls1/6speed combo would be sweet.

if ls1s are narrower than 351s and 351s fit 1965s, why the talk of cutting towers?

I mean in every swap where 351s fit...351 headers work on LS1s with nothing more than a flange swap.

Ought to drop right in. A 351W is 25" wide, so is an LS1. Use 351W swap headers with LS1 flanges, put a 4L60E, beefed up T5, or a TKO behind it, and you're good to go. T56 won't fit without building a new trans tunnel.

Someone dug up an old thread.

I'm putting a 5.3L/T56 combo into my 65'. Currently getting the motor put together, but the big problem is with the huge transmission. I'm having to chop out a large chunk of the trans tunnel. I hope the carpet will have enough give to still cover it up. I'm running a Mustang II setup, so I wouldn't know about shock tower interference. It should be pretty fun when its done anyway.

it will fit between the shock towers on a 67.
