C4 Corvette LS1 swap...

I know its a late reply, but definately deserves a response. lol Man, for lack of a better term... it was a mother ****. I had no clue what I was doing so it was a massive cluster. The biggest mistake I made was mounting it in such a fashon that I can't just "take" the dash pad out. The dash pad is actually a ridged structure now directly mounted to brackets and supports unlike the actual C5 vette (uses a few screws to hold the dash pad to a shell behind it).
If i ever take it out (probably wont lol) and do it over I'll make a skeleton behind it so i can remove the pad for easy access to the hidded treasure trove of custom wiring lurking behind. Hell, i may even get crazy and make a prototype "kit" for reproducing the feat if enough people wanted it...well, maybe... i kind of like knowing that the only other C4 equipped with this combination of insides and outs was the original gm test car built with a full c5 interior.

Just got a job after 2 years of unemployement lol.... I have to replace the 3 reveal moldings that hold the windshield in place (over $220 each + a windshield). Then I need an illusive Tremec magnum adjustable shifter (2" one) but I can't find anyone who sells them, a new center radio bezel, shifter boot, fix a strange PCM problem, wire the windows and door locks, dynomat, carpet, replace the c-beam support, cut hood (or get high rise), take care of some wiring placement issues under hood, black paint job, and some other stuff i'm sure...

Dude this is awesome Scott
I thought i saw this thread before but i was wrong. I loved my c4 because it was so fun to drive, but even though it had a cool hi tech 80s thing going on, it didnt cut it.
This is killer all the way around (seriously, mod red?), i cant wait for more pics.

It is still alive (seriously, its only been what... 8 years in the making?? lol). I do not have a garage where I live so the car has to stay else where (45 min away). Making the time to work on it is very difficult with a wife and baby on the way. It has not been forgotten and this spring I should be working on it again.
I have also been distracted with the cts-v lol.

Yes, it works. Problem is that like most OEM Tach's, it it to slow in lower gears due to the dampening done on the needle. I opted for the "big *** tach" not only for a shift light and a much more real time RPM display but for the in your face look of a drag car lol. You know, a just because sort of thing

oil pan?
you said that you altered your motor mounts to bring it back an extra inch. i have those same motor mounts on mine that im working on and i didnt alter them do i have to notch the cross member out when using the c5 oil pan still?

Great thread.
I have an '89 sitting in the driveway -- for years I've dreamt about going LSX with the motor in a road course car setup, however I can't rationalize it after factoring in the cost of the A4 to M6 tranny swap and the D36 to D44 rear swap (on top of the custom work required to make it all work).
