??? I'm curious as to why an oiling system would bring up any questions about emissions/Smog legalities ???

Look up your local Referee Station in the phone book and ask them.

I think you call the referee with that question all you'll get is the "deer in the headlights" look. I would think as long as the dry sump system is a closed system allowing the engine to burn any vapors (as in a pcv system) it would not even be an issue.

I'm not sure why it would, I just want to know what to expect when the time comes to smog my conversion.

I am looking up the ref. asap.... I think there is one by a nearby college. I'll have to look and see.

Hey, Oscar Will, what do you mean by a closed system?

A closed system does not allow any vapors from the crankcase to escape to atmosphere, they are contained and fed back into the intake to be burned. In an open system there are usually breathers on the valvecovers that look like mini air filters and as the pistons move up and down and displace air in the crankcase the pressure changes. The breathers on the valvecovers are there to equalize the pressure to atmosphere so that the changing crankcase pressure does not suck gaskets in or blow them out and cause oil leaks. With an open system the breathers on the valvecovers allow air to travel in and out and carry any oil vapors to escape to the atmosphere. In a closed system there are no external breathers on the valvecovers, hoses are used to route the vapors from the crankcase into the intake. That way if the crankcase releases pressure any oil vapors that travel along with it are sucked into the engine and burnt which reduces pollution.
