My buddy had some crazy backfires with an ls6 intake and never damaged the intake. Face facts that fast intakes are not of the same quality. Lets hope the l92 intake turns out to be a great flowing piece.

It shouldn't be backfiring, period. Find out whats wrong with the motor or tune/firing order, wiring harness ect befor strapping another intake on and blowing it up

The motor is freshly built. I started it up the day before without a problem other then it running untuned and a little like crap so I got the ECU flashed the day after and got the back fire. The problem cant be the tune because my friend has the exact same tune with the exact same motor and internals.I have slightly bigger heads...that's all.I will install the stock intake and get it running for a while before I put the new FAST back on it. The lower 1/2 of the FAST is ment to blow easy though.....Like I said before, that's why they offer it for sale.

Must have been one hell of a backfire to cause a huge crack like that. Did you ever figure out the cause?

I'm going to assume that was a joke gone bad....because that was a retarded comment.I didnt crash my car and claim to my insurance that it was a hit and run.
It was under warranty and what happened to it was very obvious on top of me telling them what happen to it.

I'd say the defect was making an intake manifold out of plastic. That's the cheapest, half-*** cost cutting method I've seen to date. I know GM is a bunch of cheapasses, but you'd think that with an AFTERMARKET $800 manifold they'd at least make it out of a different material than a pocket comb.

Actually the plastic intakes are the way to go. They are lighter and will not heat soak as bad as the aluminum intakes. They will just flat out make more power. In reality, it's not being cheap, it is using technology...

ls240z: If the bottom is all that is cracked, you can just order a bottom piece of the intake. That will be the cheapest way to remedy the problem. I had a nitrous backfire with my car a couple months ago. It blew the whole back off the intake so hard it pushed the firewall back 2" and blew pieces of the top out of my cowl hood so hard that cracked the windshield. It pulled 3 or 4 zeus fasteners through the hood when the rest of the intake hit the hood and pushed it up so hard. So don't feel too bad, it could have been worse! Let me know if you need anything.

Jon
