On the same subject... what can be done to ensure this doesnt happen on a first start up like that??? I have the fast 90/90 setup, and Im getting close to firing my motor. Its been sitting out of the car for alittle less than a month Ide say... ide hate to go to start it and have that to deal with.

You want me to sell you my $850+ intake for $100 so you can replace the lower half for $300. Let me think about that..........No.Sorry.

really, theres not much that can be done.
you could put the nitrous burst panels in... but ive always had my doubts that it will totally save the intake from cracking....
really, they just need to make them less shitty, and they wont blow apart with a normal, non-nitrous backfire... like the LS6 intakes.

What I do plan on doing is send the intake back to Summit today to see if they will warranty it.I was told that they wont but it's worth a try.If they wont replace it then I will buy a new lower 1/2. There is no way I would take a chance putting any kind of apoxy or JB weld on that part just cause I would hate for a little chunk to break off and get sucked into my intake and kiss my $12K+ motor bye bye.
The fast intake sucks and the lower 1/2 is ment to break. That why it's made of thinner materal. Why do you think they sell the lower 1/2 of the intake? What other choice do we have.I'm waiting for the new factory intakes to come out with a better flowing set-up then the FAST.

it breaks for the same reason that the MAP sensor doesnt fit, and that one out of every 3 people on here have fitment issues..... because its cheaply made..
its a great airflow design, i mean, long runners, in that tight of a package, flowing that much is a tall order...but the end product still leaves alot to be desired...
what bugs me is i know what it costs to make.. so now that the R&D has paid for itself over and over, why is the damn thing still as expensive as it is?

now, you would lose the tuned runner length, and therefore some low end torque, with the carb intake, but from what ive seen, if you put it on correctly (meaning, dont just bolt it on, but match it) you'll see a gain over the LSX, even with just a mild cam.
