Default Fly-By-Wire Questions

I want to use the fly by wire setup in my swap. I know most people think its just a waste but i'm not asking for opinions on whether to do it or not, just some info.

My engine was from a 2002 vette and i have a pedal from a 97. The LS1 came with the throttle body and the wiring harness. The TAC(Throttle Actuater Controller?)i have is from a truck/suv i think, since it has a metal bracket attached to it. I got an underdash harness for the pedal-to-TAC harness. Last my ECU is from an 02 F-body.

If i flash the computer to an 02 vette will all these components work properly together? I'm a little worried since the pedal is from a 97, the ECU will be programmed as 02, the Throttle body is from an 02, and the TAC isn't from a C5.

If this setup won't work what will i need to make it work?

Thanks!

You have to use all vette components to get it to work. It doesn't matter what year they are as long as they are all vette specific. This includes Throttl body, TAC, pedal and PCM.

You're good on everything there except the TAC module. That's a module from an 03-05 truck. You need one from an 01-02 truck or 97-04 Corvette.

Thanks, that is good news then. Just need to get a new TAC

I bought the TAC from a swap meet that a guy had a box of them in. At the time i thought only vettes used the fly by wire, so when i saw one of them with a nice shiney bracket i couldn't resist.

If i had the money i would have just bought it all from you guys at speartech!

Thanks again,
Steve

So a vette pedal will not work with any truck DBW stuff? The truck pedal I have won't fit without mods in my car, the pic of that pedal looks real close. Thanks,

Jimmy

Nobody said that. The Vette pedal will work with truck stuff. It takes a different pedal to module harness though.

The pedal is real easy to mod. I just cut mine off before the angle iron shape starts. Got a piece of 1.5 inch angle iron and cut a little longer than required. Sawsall and bench grinder and vice all that was needed. Drill press to drill hole for the rubber footrest peg. Tigged the peg into the new pedal arm. Installed the base part into the S10 Blazer and then tacked the new arm on where needed. Gotta be carefull and put some wet rags around the arm and spring area to keep from overheating the plastic for the reostat part of the pedal. Took about 1 hour to do.
