Default FAN wiring Poll

What are your opinions on the best way to run dual fans for normal driving. I had my harness made two years ago and the guy that made it merged both my 89 harness and my 2000 harness together. He provided me with a fan setup that runs one fan as a primary using the low driver, and the other fan as a secondary used only with an AC trigger. I feel that this is not the best use of the dual fans but I am looking for opinions. BTW the car is a thirdgen Camaro with pretty poor cooling to begin with (small frontal area, small grille)

Check out DC Controls fan controllers. It is simple to wire, and you can practically run without a thermostat since the controller keeps the water temp within 5-10 degrees of what you tell it. It does that by varying the fan speed depending on the water temp.

Very slick.

IMO the best setup is to run it with 3 relays the same as a factory setup. Starting with a low fan and then kicking it up to high seems to me like it would be the most efficient setup. If you don`t need the cooling capacity then I feel it is better to run at low speed which will draw less amperage, make less noise, and put less wear on the fans. I have read that the factory style setup that runs the fans on 6V on low speed is superior to running only one fan on 12V because the fans make less noise and last longer.

I have a single fan with 2 speeds on it and 3 relays. it runs on slow speed for the slow request by the computer and on fast speed by the high demand from comp.

I'm going to use a DCC, but if I wasn't, I'd use 3 relays & run both 6v/12v

Will any/all fans support the 6v/12V 3 relay setup? Flex-a-lite, Spal, etc.

How did you wire that set-up? Trying to do the same thing. Thanks
