Default Ls7 swap in 1971 Camaro

Ok before I get hammered for not using the search feature let me say that I've read numerous threads to no avail, so hopefully the pros can answer a few questions for me.

1- should I retain the dry sump oiling system and if so will the pan clear my subframe etc. I assume it's pretty shallow??
2-dbw or switch to a cable
3-can I use the Kooks headers from my 99 SS in my 71 Camaro. I've read that Pacesetters are an option.
4-who makes a bellhousing to adapt my TKO 500 to this engine with my original clutch linkage if possible.

I know I'm a pain in the butt I just need to get going on this and any help/answers are greatly appreciated
Thanks shupe

1. Keep the dry sump

2. DBW, there's no reason to change it!

3. You'll prbably have to mod the headers unless they fit an LS1 application for this combo.

4. Not sure on this one, try contacting Kinsler or someone.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try to make the headers work without butchering them. When I get a little closer to starting I'll post pics in the appropriate thread detailing my progress/pains. I'm going to send my harness to Speartech based on their rep. Thanks for the info

Yep I'd def keep the dry sump, one of the best attributes of the LS7.

Although personally I probably wouldn't go LS7, they cost far too many $$$. I'd probably build a nice 402ci from an LS2 based block, decent cam & heads and some form of FI. For less money I'd expect to see more HP.

For a bellhousing to adapt your TKO 500 get a Lakewood blow proof #15005 this bell will work great as long as the bolt pattern on your trans is the same as the old Muncie, BW T-10 . As far as the clutch linkage there is no provision on the LS block for the crosshaft pivot ball . They are available or you can make one yourself that bolts to the bellhousing. (see pic ) I have posted a few times on this, just do a search of previous posts for my name. Stan

I,m doing the same thing but in a 79 z28 with a TKO 600 trans and a moser 12 bolt with 4:11 gears.Wagner Automotive will make headers out of stainless for a second gen that will fit . Mcleod makes bellhousings that fit.

What is the price on the wagner headers? Any pictures of a set? I have been looking at headers and has anyone tried a set of gto headers. They look like they would fit. No weird bends or anything.
