3rd gen LS1 swap...
Just wondering if anyone has done it, and if anyone has, please give me advice. If I continue on the path I'm on, I am going to maybe start a project early 2007...
I've already search and haven't found anything great...I may just suck at using the search function though...
Thanks for all help!
Andy
i'm probably going to have about 10k to work with, and i will be keeping my firebird until the project is complete...hopefully before summer next year.
we'll see...
please keep the comments, suggestions, and helpful information coming! i really appreciate it!
This is what I found with a search of "Thirdgen". https://ls1tech.com/forums/search.php?searchid=3878057

Many people have done this swap. You can buy all the parts and it's simply a bolt in deal. no welding required.
I do, however, reccomend you keep the fuel injection set up. the drivability of fuel injection is awesome! The 4th gen tank bolts right in- it's the same shape as the 3rd gen tank. the fuel lines need minor finessing up front, but otherwise the 4th gen lines work in the 3rd gen car. you can use most all the parts from a 4th gen donor car, so there is no reason not to.

As for losing the injection and going with a carb?? well, if I did not want injection I would not go with an LSX period. you can make more power with a lot less money on a regular SBC. If you look at simple things like headers for a LSX in a thirdgen over $1200!!!! Thirdgen SBC headers many to choose from some under $200. The money saved on headers alone could get you a nice set of vortec heads and a cam. To each his own though that was just my opinion
